ESCAPING THE HEAT:
COMMUNICATING THE LIVED EXPERIENCE OF HEAT IN SOCIAL HOUSING
(2022 Social Innovation Design Honours Project)

Urban heat a result of global warming and climate change is an immense environmental and social problem that is challenging the liveability of our cities. As a result, it is society’s most vulnerable communities that are the most impacted. This is a visually designed report aimed at planners, policy-makers and designers has been researched and created through a participatory design framework. Using storytelling and visualisation to capture information about urban heat through the lived experience of social housing residents in Glebe. This report also highlights where potential design interventions could be implemented to help make our communities ‘climate ready’ and ‘climate resilient’.
